Brr! Cold, wet and rainy today. Easy to get motivated to go into work on such a dreary day. But hard to find photo opportunities.

8-30-10 Lady Bug
Quick trip out to my garden this afternoon. This little guy caught my eye right away. Hope he will bring all of his friends and take care of my aphid problem.

08-29-10 Trumpeter Creek Bridge
Long walk with Roswell this morning. Found this trail across Trumpeter Creek. I didn't even know there was a Trumpeter Creek, much less a trail. Always a nice discovery. Also noticed bear scat on the trail. Bears within walking distance of my home. Cool!

08-28-10 Corn
Beautiful morning walk to the Farmer's Market today. So many great photo opportunities, but I forgot my camera. Had to settle for a photo from my own little "farm" today.

08-27-10 Home Reflections
I have been enjoying amazing sunsets the last few nights as I walk Roswell. The puffy watery clouds turn blue and pink all the way across the sky as the sun begins to sink. Looking east is just amazing as looking west.

08-26-10 African Daisy with the Blues
Pretty busy with work today so just ran out in my yard to find a photo. Cool and cloudy today. Sun just coming out and trying to coax this flower into opening up.

08-25-10 Teacher Tools
Beautiful day spent mainly at a desk in front of a computer screen. It is still early. Time to get out and enjoy.

08-24-10 Fleeting Summer
Today has been glorious. A little hint of fall in the air. Beautiful sunshine and blue skies. They say that this might be our last day of summer weather for the year.

08-23-10 Framed Sunshine
Beautiful last free Monday before school starts. Sunflowers are a hint that fall is on the way.

08-22-10 Skagit Station
Surprised again by a little blue sky today. Erik and I were able to do some more clean up in the garden. Boy am I sore. Asked if we could stop by Skagit Station in search of a glass photo for my Dailyshoot. I took a couple.

08-21-10 Blue Sky and Star
Today the forecast was cloudy and gray. But we were actually surprised by blue skies and sunshine. Which was great for my morning of working in the garden and an afternoon picnic at a friends home in Seattle.

08-20-10 Joe Pye Weed
Working with shallow depth of field today. Was quite a trick to catch this guy long enough to focus and shoot.

08-19-10 Outstanding in a Field
Always finding new and interesting things out in the fields. Three old railway cars seem to be mothballed here waiting for their next gig.

08-18-10 Travel Memories
Looking for a photo of a photo pictures for the dailyshoot today. This caught my eye. The books and photos on these shelves hold lots of wonderful memories. So glad that I found my travel buddy/husband Erik. I know that we have lots more great travel memories to make.

08-17-10 Snow Goose Produce
Went to Snow Goose with the DailyShoot assignment of taking a photo of a sign in mind. Snow Goose was hopping this warm afternoon. Lots of people enjoying their giant ice cream cones. When I got home, I saw that one of my fellow flickr friends, @switchermark had already beat me to the punch with the dailyshoot photo of Snow Goose. But hey, I can still use this for my photo of the day.

08-16-10 Nasturtium
First day back teaching today. Had a full class of eager to learn teachers. The room was a little toasty, but we made it fine. Just left me with time for a quick snapshot. I love to see flowers in vegetable gardens.

08-15-10 Bath Time
Good thing we have only had about 3 days of real summer this year. Roswell is not a fan of hot. He isn't a fan of baths either, but seem to almost welcome this particular bath time.

08-14-10 Carlos's Bug
Lunch at LaCasita today. Definitely our favorite restaurant. The food is great, but the owners are the best. They have become like family to us. The restaurant is within view of our house and has become our second kitchen. (You could even argue that it is our primary kitchen.) Carlos and Maria have both a vintage and a new VW Bug. I have been waiting for a good day to take a photo. Today he had luggage and a tricycle on the luggage racks. Perfect! Thanks Carlos for enchiladas AND my photo of the day.

08-13-10 Hay Harvest
The colors and the consistency of the fields are changing again as hay is being harvested. Time for a new crop.

08-12-10 Illuminated Fern
Visited the Discovery Garden today. I was looking for repeating patterns for the Daily Shoot challenge. Lots of repeating patterns in nature.

08-11-10 Le Petit Bouquet
Enjoy all the stands with fresh cut flowers this time of year. Funny, usually I just take a photo and don't buy any flowers. Probably should buy flowers at least some of the time.

08-10-10 The Sod is Always Greener
Yet another Skagit Valley crop. Wish that the grass in my yard was this green and weed free.

08-09-10 Refrigerator Magnets
Cool and rainy outside and lots of work to do inside. Lots of work sometimes means I procrastinate by cleaning and organizing. Today I organized the photos on our fridge while I should have been working on course development. (Did work on course development too though. :)

08-08-10 A Bicycle Built for Two
Busy day with not a lot of photo opportunities. Apparently, I just missed seeing the Blue Angels flying up ahead as we drove through Seattle this afternoon. Not quite the Blue Angels, but I did spot this bicycle built for two hanging from the top of a building. Did a little editing to give it a bit more punch. (Sometimes that is needed on lame photo days like today :) )

08-07-10 Birthday Buddies
Today we celebrated Erik's mom and uncle's birthdays. Lots of visiting, stories and food.
08-06-10 White Rock Pier
Erik and I enjoyed a wonderful visit with dear friends who live in Ontario and were out on vacation in B.C. Lynette and I taught in Ecuador together and had quite the adventures traveling in South America together. So fun to catch up and reminisce.

08-05-10 High As An Elephant's Eye
Enjoyed a quick drive through the fields this morning. Saw broccoli, blueberries, tulip bulbs and raspberries being harvested. Spotted a couple of eagles and hawks. Some might just see boring farm land, but there is a lot happening out there in those fields.

08-04-10 Smokey Sunset
Lots of forest fires in the area so the days have been hazy and the sun has been extra red.

08-03-10 yellow chair
Today's dailyshoot was to take a photo of something growing in a garden. Since I did that in my garden yesterday, I went to the Discovery Garden today. Had fun taking photos in the vegetable garden. This little yellow chair had been added since my last visit. Thought it complimented my earlier photo of a little red chair in the same garden.

08-02-10 A Little Bit of Juli
Out in my garden looking for a quick photo today. Trying not to get too distracted from my school work that must get done. This little bird house surrounded by daisies, reminded me of my sister Juli. Juli just recently moved from Texas, but she is so good about making sure I don't forget my Texas roots by sending me happy reminders for my house and garden. Although I am not sure if daisies are still her favorite flower, they used to be and daisies always will remind me of my sister. So even though we live thousands of miles apart, I am reminded of my short, smart, and sweet "big" sister often with happy scenes like this.

08-01-10 Dog as Art
Went to an art festival in Bellingham today. Lots of sidewalk chalk art. This guy seemed to have picked a great place to sit an admire the creativity.
