06-26-11 Schuh Strawberries

We enjoyed a beautiful day out in the sunshine today. Now that Holden is old enough (4months) we were able to take him to a few dog parks. He had a great time playing with dogs of all sizes. After yummy pupusas from a Salvadoran restaurant, we ended our adventure at the Schuh Farm stand where I had a yummy fresh strawberry shake. Finally feeling a bit like summer.

After the worst (wettest, coldest) Spring on record here, we welcomed in Summer with a beautiful sunny and semi warm day. I celebrated by getting out in my yard after school today. This is the first year I have still been in school on the first day of summer. Yikes!

We went to the Berry Dairy Days Car Show today. Holden got to see lots of people and dogs. Erik got to see some cool cars. I saw the cars too, but I don't know what I am looking at like he does. Still fun to look.

06-18-11 Intent

A cool rainy day today gave me the perfect opportunity to stay inside and work on the long list of school projects that need to be done before school ends on Wednesday. So, I couldn't venture far for my picture of the day. Luckily, I have a handsome subject right in my home. Holden has a funny battery powered ball that rolls randomly in different directions. This is great entertainment for Holden. Sometimes he chases it and puts it in his mouth. Other times he just plops down and watches the ball intently as it rolls around the room.

06-12-11 Meeting Rachael

Not the best photo, but this is more of a documentation day than a photo skill day. Wish it could be both, but this is the best I could do. Today we headed to Gig Harbor to visit Erik's dad. This was our first "trip" with Holden. I am reminded of parents with young children packing for a trip, or even just trying to leave the house. So many things to consider and so much stuff. We stopped in downtown Seattle for a quick trip to Pike Place Market to get some flowers. I love taking photos in the market, but this time, we were on a mission, we were in a hurry, and we had a puppy with us. We managed our way through the streets of Seattle with lots of tourist meandering everywhere. I really wanted a photo of Holden with Rachael, the market pig. But everyone wants their picture with Rachael and she stands right by the flying fish so there was a lot of activity. We finally had our turn but I just couldn't get our little ADD puppy interested in getting his photo taken with the pig. So this is the best that I got. Holden did make lots of friends in the market. Everybody wanted to pet our growing pooch and comment on his gynormous feet.

06-11-11 Operation Humming Bird

I have been on a mission to attract birds to our yard. My Flickr friends are always wowing me with the shots of birds in their own yard. All winter I had feeders out, nothing. This Spring, I added hummingbird feeders and continued to try to coax other birds to my other feeders. I've had a little bit of luck, but not much. I've noticed the humming bird feeders getting low so I knew that something was feasting on the nectar. Today I finally saw this guy! Not at my feeder, but in my yard, enjoying my many flowers, partially planted to make him feel welcome in my yard.

This is one of my favorite old barns. Always interesting things inside. One day I saw an old Lemonade Stand leaning on some boards in there. Wish I would have stopped to take a photo. I know that this is a working farm, but to me it is an museum installation... :)

06-04-11 Through the Jungle

Holden and I went for a walk along the beach at Warm Beach today. If you are picturing a long sandy beach, you have the wrong picture. Lots of bull rush, cattails, scotch broom and old logs. Makes for quite the adventure for a young pup. We even saw young dear and a humming bird on our adventure.

In Yakima for a meeting tomorrow. I got out and explored the backroads a bit this evening. Interesting to see the different crops growing in this area. Lots of orchards, vinyards and hops. (not sure what you call a hops farm.)
