12-31-11 Tree Smarts
My beautiful Mama is wise in many ways. One way that is not measured by her graduate degrees but is very special to me is her knowledge of the forest. I love going for a walk in the woods with my Mama. She can tell me the names of plants and all kind of stories about growing up in the pinry woods. Today before I headed back to Washington, I had the blessing of going for a walk in the woods with my family. A nice way to finish the year.

12-21-11 Fishing on the Nooksack
Via Flickr:
Enjoyed a nice drive this morning exploring a few places I hadn't been to before. (That is hard to do within driving distance.) I was told that this spot was a great place to see eagles down by the river. All I saw were fishermen, but I really liked the way this photo came out.

12-19-11 Time Capsule #TP41
Via Flickr:
Illustrate the idea of time in a photograph today. Be as literal or abstract as you want to be with your interpretation.
Another find from inside our old walls. This is a children's Valentine. From the types of objects we normally find, I am guessing that the kids used to play in the attic and these items would fall down into the insulation in the walls.

12-12-11 Hoar Frost and Spider Web
Via Flickr:
This morning Erik called me just as I was getting to work. He wanted me to go look for spider webs. He called to tell me about the hoar frost on the spider webs at Warm Beach. I had had the opportunity to see the beautiful moon, the hoar frost and the pink and blue sky before going to work this morning, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to go looking for spider's webs. So, I decided to use his photo from his phone for my photo of the day. I love the fact that my husband thinks to call and tell me to go look at spider webs. One of the best things about this challenge has been learning to be a better observer. I love that even though Erik isn't participating by taking photos everyday, we are both learning to observe the world more closely through this challenge.

Eurasia - Saint Nicholas day - yes the original feast day. but lets portray giving or receiving in a photograph today
I'd be happy never setting foot into a mall or big box store again, but I have to say, I do love the convenience of internet shopping. But, it is even better to give back to my community and buy locally.

12-5-11 Three Windows
Via Flickr:
My new challenge had me looking for threes today. I'm happy to have a new challenge, but somedays it is all I can do to shoot a picture of anything during my busy day. But, these windows stood still and gave me all the time I needed to snap a photo.
