Erik called me this afternoon to let me know about these eagles. I love that I have Erik on the look out for pictures. We are both looking at the world a lot closer now. And because of that, we get to see amazing things like this.

After a long weekend this early start to a very soggy Tuesday, felt a lot like a Monday. Although it remained soggy all day, the day actually went pretty well.

They are carving a totem pole in honor of a Native carver who was shot by a police officer in Seattle. This story has many sides, but for all involved, it was a sad situation and celebrating life and beauty is always welcomed.

Was out today with just my point and shoot, and of course, I encounter a field of swans, ducks and geese. This year, the geese have not been cooperating for photos, finding fields away from the roads. Today the field behind Snow Goose Produce was white with geese. I like the Mallard in the middle of the photo.

Erik and I decided to delay Valentine's since I had to present at a parent meeting on the 14th. So I am playing around with Valentine heart candy a few days late as I wait for my perfect Valentine to arrive home from work.

February Scavenge Challenge #5. Demonstrate the passage of time without using a timepiece of any sort.
Tomorrow Holden will be one year old. He was 8 weeks old in the image on the left. That was the day we got him. Now he is about 100 lbs heavier and has very much won a place in our hearts.

Boundary Bay. BC, a set on Flickr.
I am cheating a bit today and not picking just one shot. Today, Erik and I went up to Boundary Bay in B.C. Our goal was to see the Snowy Owls that only make it this far south about once every 6 years. The forecast was for sunny skies so I was really excited about the possibilities. We got there to find the whole bay socked in with fog. But myself and the million other photographers tried anyway to get shots of these amazing birds. After waiting on the sun, we searched in vain for an Indian restaurant and then headed to the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. This was a fun place with plenty of opportunities to take photos of wild birds. The place was thick with Mallards. But the highlight for me was the Sand Hill Cranes. I heard rumors of a Barred Owl, but didn't find it. Oh well, we will return. When we crossed the border, the agent asked where we had been. Erik said Boundary Bay to look for Owls. The guy said, "she's way more into this than you right?" And this was probably true, but Erik was a great sport. It was a fun day to be out and enjoying nature and each other.

Blue skies and sunshine are celebrated here in the Northwest in the middle of winter. The temps got up to almost 60 degrees today leading people to put the tops down on their convertibles and don their flip flops and tank tops.
