Another rainy day. I had a lunch meeting in LaConner today so I took that opportunity, even in the pouring rain, to get another daffodil picture.

03-21-12 A Passion for Learning and Life
Via Flickr:
I learned today of the passing of one of my former student's father. Doug Stufflebeam was a man with a passion and curriosity for life. We made a connection right away with our love for Kenya and Ecuador. Doug shared his passion for learning and his desire to open up new worlds to my students through many volunteer hours in my class and on field trips. I smile each time I walk by his and Christine's house and see the one of kind tree house that he built with his sons. My favorite story of Doug is one Monday, his son Ruger came in and told me about his dad mountain boarding down Blackburn Ave. at midnight. Not many kids had a dad who lived that kind of adventure all over the world and even in his home town.

03-16-12 Market Signs, a photo by roswellsgirl on Flickr.
Great day at NCCE. My presentation went well. Got to visit with friends. Went to some great sessions and I got a Making IT Happen award. To celebrate, I made one last journey to Pike Place Market before jumping into the traffic and heading home.

People photography is still hard for me. Always worried about pointing my camera at someone. That is what I like about Pike Place Market, everyone is pointing cameras so no one thinks anything of it.

03-13-12 Snow Through the Screen
Via Flickr:
Woke up to more snow this morning. Decided to take a few photos from my office window before the snow melted. The first photo I took was through the screen. I then moved to a screenless window and took another photo. But I decided I would just embrace the screen as a funky filter for my picture today.

03-07-12 The Lady Bugs Return
Via Flickr:
For those of you who have been following my photo blog for a while, you will know that every year, I get an infestation of lady bugs in my office. I hear that lady bugs are supposed to be good luck. I must be pretty lucky. As I was working on some other pictures, this guy was crawling on my lap top. I decided to grab my point and shoot and get a picture, he then jumped on the point and shoot so I had to pull out my DSLR for the shot.
Having this picture do double duty today since I have meetings and little time to go exploring for photos. The assignment was to take a picture of your favorite electronic gadget. Although I love my DSLR, my little point and shoot is my trusty friend. They say, the best camera is the one you have with you and I always have my point and shoot around. Luckily today I had both, since my point and shoot became the subject of my photo.

Still waiting for the daffodils to open, but the fields are full of farm workers hand cutting daffodil buds to sell as cut flowers. Looking out at a field, you can see over 50 workers cutting in one field.

03-03-12 Pleasant Ridge School
Via Flickr:
I am sure that people who have always lived in the Skagit Valley are very aware of this little old school near LaConner. But for me, it was a hidden treasure. I love old schools and I traverse this valley almost daily looking for photos but had never seen the Pleasant Ridge School before. I discovered this school by seeing a photo taken by a fellow Flickr Friend who himself was surprised that he had never noticed this school before. This just goes to remind me, that there are always new things to discover, even if those new things may indeed be very old.
