I have a daisy dilemma. Lots and lots of huge daisies. All of them floppy. Although you can't tell by looking at my still daisy filled gardens, I removed a whole garbage bin of daisies today to make room for other flowers in my garden.

The weather had not been cooperating while my nephew and his wife were here. I kept promising them that we did indeed have an amazing back drop of mountains when there were no low clouds or haze. Finally a clear day! We drove up to Washington Pass and explored all the way there and back.

Today we had an amazing day of whale watching around the San Juan Islands. It was quite a trip out to the whales, but once we found the J and L pods of Orcas, they gave us quite a show.

Today's adventures were close to home. We walked to the farmer's market for Sweedish Pancakes, we ate at our favorite Thai restaurant. We went looking for Eagles. We had giant ice cream cones at Snow Goose Produce, hike around Deception Pass and ended our evening watching to the sunset at Little Mountain.

A very full day in Seattle. We picked up my nephew and his wife from the airport and jumped into adventure mode visiting the Seattle Waterfront, the Aquarium, Pike Place Market, the Monorail, the EMP, the new Chihuly Exhibit and we topped it off with a baseball game at Safeco Field. This picture is from an exhibit at the amazing new Chihuly Exhibit at the Seattle Center. Oohs and Ahhs around every corner.

Several years ago, Erik and I went to St. Helens and tried to drive around the east side. This was a beautiful day in early May with the temps actually reaching the 80s. As we headed up NF Road 25, I mentioned that I saw a sign that the road was closed ahead due to snow on the road. I pointed this out to Erik, but he just laughed since there was no sign of snow. We traveled on a windy road for about 30 miles and then ran into a wall of snow about 6 feet deep on the road. (I guess that this as as far as they had plowed.) So we had to turn around and go back the way we came. The moral to this story is that husbands should indeed listen to their wives. But, today, we had better luck and were able to travel all the way around the mountain getting close up views of St. Helens, Rainier and Adams.
