Yesterday I drove by a little patch of little Snowdrops blooming. That sent me to the Discovery Garden in hopes to find them blooming there too. Not quite yet, but I am on watch now. I love this time of year when hints of Spring start peeking out from the ground to give a hint of things to come for those who take the time to really look. This Euphorbia looks spent unless you look closer and see the shoots starting to push their way up through last years growth.

After 6 days of snow and ice, the tempurature finally climbed above freezing and the roads turned to a little safer slush. So I headed out to see if there were any snowy photo ops still available in the fields. Was able to take this shot, but couldn't do much exploring as a power line was down over the road and they were blocking off almost all of my paths home.

Still a lot of snow on the ground today, but it is supposed to warm up tomorrow so we took Holden for one last romp in the snow at the park. The trees were full of these pretty Cedar Wax Wings enjoying the last of the berries.

This has been a very mild winter and we finally got our first snow today. We were anxious to see what Holden would think about snow. He loved it. We took him to the park and he romped and played until he dropped. A little snow every year is fun. Hoping though that it is only a little snow.

My beautiful Mama is wise in many ways. One way that is not measured by her graduate degrees but is very special to me is her knowledge of the forest. I love going for a walk in the woods with my Mama. She can tell me the names of plants and all kind of stories about growing up in the pinry woods. Today before I headed back to Washington, I had the blessing of going for a walk in the woods with my family. A nice way to finish the year.

Enjoyed a nice drive this morning exploring a few places I hadn't been to before. (That is hard to do within driving distance.) I was told that this spot was a great place to see eagles down by the river. All I saw were fishermen, but I really liked the way this photo came out.

This morning Erik called me just as I was getting to work. He wanted me to go look for spider webs. He called to tell me about the hoar frost on the spider webs at Warm Beach. I had had the opportunity to see the beautiful moon, the hoar frost and the pink and blue sky before going to work this morning, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to go looking for spider's webs. So, I decided to use his photo from his phone for my photo of the day. I love the fact that my husband thinks to call and tell me to go look at spider webs. One of the best things about this challenge has been learning to be a better observer. I love that even though Erik isn't participating by taking photos everyday, we are both learning to observe the world more closely through this challenge.

Erik had to go into work today. Holden and I decided to go with him. When Holden was small enough to fit on the front seat of Erik's work truck, he used to go to work with Erik. I missed celebrating World Toilet Day over the weekend. Here is an article about how a toilet can help change a girl's life. water.org/2009/09/four-ways-a-toilet-can-change-a-girls-l... After living several years in the developing world, I know first hand the value of a good toilet. I learned why women often wear skirts. And I learned that American toilets weren't always the most sanitary answer.

Late night at the office. Well really not that late, but with the change in the time, I saw that it was getting dark and I was still busy at work. So, I just looked out the window and took a picture of my view. I am very thankful for my corner office on the third floor with beautiful views all around.

This is my sweet niece Alyssa, creating a masterpiece for my soon to be niece Sarah (her soon to be sister-in-law) We watched in awe as she knitted away all weekend and all celebrated when she was able to give the masterpiece to Sarah later in the weekend. So much time, patience, talent and love.

I've always loved going to the zoo. This year, for my Mom's 80th birthday, she wanted us all to go to the little Lufkin Zoo. So my Mom and Dad, Sister and Brother in Law, and my nephew's and their wife and soon to be wife, all went to the zoo. We even rode the little train. I always had fun taking my little, now not so little nephews to the zoo. But, I'll have to say, that going to the zoo even without any small kids will be a treasured memory.

I had the blessing of spending the weekend with my mother for her 80th birthday. It was a sweet celebration as the whole family was able to join together for this occasion. We all packed up and went to the zoo. Last year, I visited at this time and I went to the zoo with just my Mom and Dad. My dad had a really hard time getting around due to his Myasthenia Gravis. It was such a huge blessing to see how well my Dad was getting around this year. So much progress and so many answered prayers. I know that this was a huge gift for my Mom as well.
